Thanks to Darren Bicknell and the Belvoir Castle Cricket Trust

Things are progressing at a good pace here at Melton Mowbray Cricket Club and there are a lot of people to thank for their efforts. However initially this latest period of Melton Mowbray Cricket Club was thanks to a telephone conversation between our own Clubman of the Year, Rupert Smallshaw and Professional Cricketer Darren Bicknell.

“5 years ago we set up the Belvoir Bees Junior Cricket Sessions at Melton Mowbray Cricket Club. At the time the club had 1 Saturday team and 1 on a Sunday and were in all honesty struggling along. Now with the help of many good people they have 2 Saturday sides 1 Sunday side, an under 10’s kwik cricket team and also teams playing hard-ball at u/11 u/13 and u/15. Well done to all at Melton for grabbing the club by the scruff of the neck and building a bright future. And to top it off 5 juniors from the 1st years cohort are attending our coaches training session next Monday and looking to help the future kids thus bringing it full circle. Good on ya kids. Its a great story and getting better – well done Melton Mowbray Cricket Club
