Pre-Season Report for The Melton Times
This year we are being joined by Australian Matt Worsnop visiting England this summer.
With Family in Cambridge and London Matt has kindly agreed to be our Overseas player this year and spend the summer playing cricket and helping us with Coaching Sessions. Matt has already made a big impression with us and we are looking forward to seeing him in action.
Our 1st XI will be playing in the Leicestershire & Rutland Cricket League Division 4 East and our 2nd XI in Division 7 East.
First XI Captain Pete Humphries will hope to have a strong squad for this Division and is keen to get some consistency throughout the Season.
Freshly crowned 2nd XI Captain Lewis Marsh jumps up from running the Burrough League side to the Saturday XI.
On Sundays we continue in the Grantham & Melton Cricket Association Division 3.
Tuesday Evenings Burrough League side stay in Division 2 this year and holds places for it’s emerging Junior players to taste Senior Cricket. Paul Stevenson will be captaining.
Malcolm Brown continues to marshall the Sunday XI with a mixture of Saturday and Sunday players making up the squad.
Junior Cricket
Under 13′s Hardball games will take place on Sunday Mornings at 10am. Club Coach Karl Tew will trains on Monday Evenings with this group as they continue to grow in their second season in this League.
First Game -27th April Home to Cropston 10.00pm start
Under 11′s Incrediball – games take place on alternate Friday Evenings with cup games and Friendlies at other times. This group have developed well and hope for good things this year as senior players in this division.
First Game -9th May Away to Egerton Park 6.00pm start
Under 10′s Kwik Cricket play on alternate Friday Evenings and this year have two full teams taking to the field.
First Game – 2nd May Away at Thorpe Arnold 6.00pm start
Once again Darren Bicknell will be bringing his Belvoir Bees to the Club on Wednesday evenings. Ages from 6-11years the Coaching Sessions run by Keith Tomblin start at 6pm to 7.30pm.
The First Wednesday will be 30th April and runs for 20weeks throughout the summer at the All England Sports Ground on Saxby Road.
TRAINING SESSIONS
There are training sessions for all age groups Seniors, Under 13, Under 11’s, Under 10’s and Belvoir Bees.
EVENTS
This year we are planning a Presidents XI game as well as our usual Tournaments, Family Days and Summer Academy,

NEW VERANDA & ACCESS RAMP
In preparation for the season we have erected a new Clubhouse veranda which will includes a ramp to improveaccess.We’re hoping it will be a nice area to watch the cricket on a hot and sunny day
Groundwork is well underway and the track is looking good.
There are always lots of volunteers jobs so get in touch. There are jobs from all sorts of paperwork to all kinds of Groundwork, there is always a long list and every hour counts so get in touch.
