MELTON MOWBRAY v OLD DALBY
Melton won by 3 runs
IN only their second-ever match, Melton’s newly formed youth team narrowly defeated Old Dalby in a close-fought match.
Melton lost the toss and were put into bat, but started well with S. Thorpe and J. Mee scoring 22 runs in the first four overs.
M. Jackson and R. Johnson came up against some tight bowling, while K. Mackie and T. Wrath faced some good, acurate bowling to take the score on to 242.
The final pairing of J. Tew and J. Mower played some good shots as the home side finished on a creditable 263.
Melton bowled and fielded well, leaving Old Dalby needing eight runs off the last over. Dalby’s last pair batted well, but they fell three runs short.
