Melton Vs Uppingham
Melton win by 15 runs
Following the previous days thunder, rain and hail the All England Sports Ground found a window in the weather to host Uppingham in the Cup Semi-Final of the Burrough League.
Uppingham won toss and sent Melton into bat where they made a steady start in the first few overs but the loss of the first wicket brought Paul Stevenson and Jack Harris together who carved out a solid partnership of 76. Stevenson went in the 15th over for 56 whilst Harris finished on 26 not out. Melton ended their innings on 112 for 3.
Uppingham started their innings at a blistering pace with W.Cropper and J.Richardson amounting a mighty 21 runs from the first over. The pace continued for the following 4 overs where the score jumped to 55 for 0 and to the 7th over at 61 runs before the first wicket fell. Uppingham still looked favorite at the 10th over on 80 for 2 needing only 33 runs from 8 overs but clear Man of the Match Paul Stevenson started notching up wickets that changed the game.
With W.Cropper gone for 45 all the other wickets tumbled. Karl Tew ended on 6 overs 2 for 26 but stunning figures of 6 overs 6 for 18 from Paul Stevenson to to with his 56 with the bat sees Melton March through to the Final.
