Melton Mowbray Cricket Club Celebrate Success at 2011 Awards Night

Melton Town CC celebrate success

(Published Melton Times Thursday 17th November 2011)

The end of season celebration evening toasted the Club’s most successful season for a number of years as the 1st XI finished runners up in the Everards Division 6, the only Saturday team in Melton to gain promotion during the last season. Additionally the 2nd team finished a comfortable mid table in Division 8 and the Tuesday evening team also gained runners up slot in the Borough League Division 2.

The first team produced a tremendous second half of the season where they won most of their matches including being the only team all season to beat runaway League Champions Kirby Muxloe. This ends a run of relatively disappointing seasons for Melton where the Club now have increased drive & ambition for future successful seasons.

Plans are already being formulated to help the Club continue it’s upward momentum with nets starting early in the New Year. The Club is hopeful of a few quality additions to help strengthen their playing squad as they push for back to back promotion to Division 4.

Additionally Melton have re-focussed on junior cricket after many years of this not being a priority for the Club. This will continue into the 2012 season.

Best Bowler Saturday 1st XI: Ben Redwood, 2nd XI Lee Jones
