MELTON TOWN FIRST XI v DUNTON BASSETT FIRST XI

Melton won by 10 wkts

AFTER winning the toss, Dunton were asked to bat on a dampish track at the All England Ground.

Runs were very hard to come by with outstanding bowling from both Ben Redwood and Karl Tew. Wickets fell cheaply with Dunton struggling at 22-5 before an interruption for rain.

Opener Fisher was providing the only resistance as Tew ripped into Dunton’s middle order and tail to finish with an impressive seven wicket haul for only 29 runs. Tew was unplayable with five of his victims being clean bowled.

Fisher was finally out for a battling 43 as Dunton finished with a disappointing 76 all out.

Melton’s reply was immediately positive with Gaz Potter taking the initiative and went on to score a quick 48 not out.

Steve Freer supported Potter as Melton’s opening pair reached their target without loss after only 15 overs to gain a maximum 24 points.

Dunton Bassett: 76.

Bowling: B. Redwood 13-4-32-2; K. Tew 16.1-5-29-7; P. Stevenson 3-1-13-1.

Melton Town: G. Potter 48*, S Freer 18*, Extras 13. Total: 79-0.
