Already 23 points clear at the top, 2nd place Langtons dropped 9 points in their game against Rothley Park as Melton further extended their lead to 32 points.
Visiting the All England Sports Ground were Leicester Banks 2.
A Big 2nd wicket partnership between Pete Humphreys (97 not out) and Matt Worsnop (76) who were both striking the ball well and frequently finding the boundary in a 176 partnership that shaped the game. They both ran neatly between the wickets and controlled the pace of scoring from the 1st to the 33rd over.
Phil James (24 not out) came in at No.4 joining Pete Humphreys to create another 50 run partnership as Melton posted a decent 226 for the loss of just 2 wickets.
Melton followed the strong batting performance with a strong team effort with the ball and in the field. Leicester Banks opening pair dug in but found it difficult batting against opening pair Karl Tew (2 for 19) and Ben Redwood (1 for 17). With 5 maidens and two wicket maidens in the first 12 overs the visitors top batsmen struggled to score and when the 3rd wicket fell in the 18th over there was only 34 on the scoreboard.
The first change of bowling brought on Matt Worsnop (3 for 13) and Gary Potter (1 for 20) who both continued to restrict the scoring and take wickets through to the end, finally bowling out Leicester Banks 2 for just 73 in the 34th over.

This Saturday Melton 1sts head out to Narborough and Littlethorpe 2 while 2nd place Langtons 2 take on Mid table Dunton Bassett.
