Highfield Rangers won by 91 runs

A warm and sunny spring day saw Melton Mowbray 2nd XI face top of the table Highfield Rangers.

Melton bowled first with opening bowlers Jim Eccles (2 for 16) and Lee Jones (1 for 48) keeping the home team under control. Captain Lewis Marsh came on first change and bowled well to take 6 for 36 as Highfield were bowled out for 171 in 42 overs.
The Melton batting reply never got started as wickets tumbled to the home side with opening bowler Ravinder Singh taking 5 wickets. Melton collapsed to 25 for 5. Tim Smallridge (19 not out) top scored and kept the Highfield team in the field for a few more overs until the innings finished for only 80.
