Club News 3rd to the 16th December

This weeks news.

On Tuesday night Melton Mowbray Cricket Club  took part in the Leicestershire Forums claim for the Melton Borough area for a portion of £12,500 which was available for local community groups, charities and projects.
Rupert Smallshaw and Peter Hood attended to represent our junior team and discuss with the event organisers and members of the Melton Borough Council about our proposal for £1,750 towards our coaching and running costs. After the discussions a member of each group was able to give a 90 second presentation about their project, all sixteen getting a warm applause from the the group.
This was followed by two rounds of voting using a computer and some hand held devices. The organisers were pleased that all the voting technology worked well after some concerns earlier.
A local beat officer and a young representative of residents of the Baldocks Lane estate in Melton were awarded a shelter so they had a place to go on an estate otherwise lean of activities for young people, 38 residents voted at the meeting, which also awarded money to Melton Learning Hub and Melton Mencap Gateway Club.
Simon Mcintosh, community forum programme manager, said: “All the projects were great and it is a shame that funding couldn’t stretch to support them all.
