A weekend of painting, rain, fencing and rolling!

Nat West Cricket Force Weekend

Weekend of 28th & 29th March 2015

 The All England Sports Ground

Last Weekend Melton Mowbray Cricket Club held their Nat West Cricket Force Weekend. Saturday started clear and dry but rain clouds threatened the days progress so work got underway early.

Painting the sight screen

IMG_1909 - Version 2Preparation had started before the day with the building of the new sight screen ready for painting. It spent most of the day flopped over on it’s front as a number of volunteers took to it with paint brushes.
The old sight screen got a lick of paint too but as that is a 6-wheeled monster it stayed sturdily upright throughout.
The rain did come so painting had to stop but the hardy bunch worked through the rain and the drizzle on other tasks to ensure progress was made. Other jobs included a full spring clean of the Clubhouse, kitchen and bar; a new bar top was fitted; fencing along
the boundary and of course work on the track.
Across the weekend there were 31 volunteers who gave their time to help the club. Some larger jobs were started too, notably a 2nd fixed net and new Scoreboard and scorers booth that sits adjacent to the Clubhouse.
Melton Mowbray Cricket Club would like to thank all the volunteers for their time over the weekend.
Also a very special thanks needs to go to the students of Brooksby Melton College who had spent time making new frames and doors for the Clubhouse.IMG_1919
